Currently Watching: The Village: Achiara's Secret

The Village: Achiara's Secret

Warning: this article contains spoilers and if you have not watched the first six episodes of this drama, you may want to stop reading now.

Firstly, this is my first article that I have done so I apologise in advance if my writing style is not to your taste. Anyway, the main reason I started watching The Village: Achiara's Secret is because of Yook Sung Jae. I have been a fan of his since his debut in 2012 with the rest of his group, BTOB. And for those who have watched his previous dramas will know that he has broken the idols-can't-act stereotype. However, this drama itself did interest me as well because I'm a sucker for anything horror or thriller themed. I believe that thriller dramas bring out the best in actors and I just love the suspense as well.

Best K-Drama Moments: July Week #1 - The Time We Were Not in Love, Warm and Cozy, Mask, I Remember You, Oh My Ghost + High Society

The Time We Were Not in Love
Love is sneaky.

During another crisis with her broken heart, Won dashes to be with Ha Na, and he cheers her up with the best way he knows how - with beer. In her hotel room, the two twig lots of brew, play games, get very loud, and trash the place in between some serious, heart-fluttering talks. The next morning, Won opens his eyes to find his best friend next to him, asleep on his arm. His mild surprise is quickly substituted with awe, as his eyes gently sweep over her lovely face. While he lightly brushes her hair back, his lips curl up in a smile. Won snaps out of the moment, though, when Ha Na begins to stir awake.

Best K-Drama Moments: June Week #4 - Mask, The Time We Were Not in Love (x2) + I Remember You

Mask
I am his wife.

I've been pulling my hair in frustration, waiting for Ji Sook to fully embrace her Eun Ha persona and stop letting the pathetic loan sharks and her awful brother-in-law, Seok Hoon, intimidate and manipulate her. Finally, there might be hope for her. In an earlier scene, Eun Ha told Min Woo that a wife takes care for her husband. So, when she barged into a shareholder's meeting that would strip him of his position as director and announced that she's his wife, I practically screamed. Because that could mean she's about to take care of business and protect him.

Best K-Drama Moments: June Week #2 - Who Are You: School 2015 (x2), Producer, Warm and Cozy, Mask + High Society

Who Are You: School 2015
The bigger badass.

So Young has been a constant thorn in Eun Bi's side, but Eun Byul is back to do some rightful cutting. Upon her return, Eun Byul foils another one of So Young's plans to reveal Eun Bi's identity and avenges her little sister. While repeatedly shoving her backwards, Eun Byul calls So Young out on being a bully, especially for her lack of remorse towards Eun Bi's 'death'. Although she is shaken, So Young readies to strike, but Eun Byul catches her arm and raises her own hand as if to slap her. So Young flinches, expecting the blow, but Eun Byul drops her hand and tells her that answering violence with violence is beneath her.

Best K-Drama Moments: May Week #5 - Mask, Producer, Orange Marmalade, Who Are You: School 2015 + Warm and Cozy

Mask
He kills her.

Although Mask just entered the weekly lineup, one of its compelling scenes has shot up to our top spot. Our lead, Min Woo, is a tortured man with memory lapses, and one takes place when his fiancee is killed. Did he do it? He doesn't know and the security tape was curiously erased at that crucial moment, so he relies on hypnosis to regain his memory, and it's ugly. Do we really believe that the hero is a murderer? Not in a million years, but this scene of Min Woo strangling Eun Ha to death has me hooked.

Best K-Drama Moments: May Week #3 - Producer, Warm and Cozy, Orange Marmalade + Who Are You: School 2015

Producer
Sealed with a kiss.

It's a new drama time!
Joon Mo and Ye Jin are best friends, currently living together after a drunken evening of lamentation when he agreed to let her live with him for the four months she's stranded without a home. He doesn't remember agreeing to it, but she's got proof in the form of a promissory note he wrote and signed with his fingerprint. However, something else took place that night - another thing he doesn't remember that potentially proves something he's never acknowledged to her. On that night, when she expresses her worry that he might take back his agreement (attributing it to alcohol), he decides to prove his sincerity by sealing his promise with a kiss.

Problematic Children

Originally, I was going to do this post on how much I prefer Eun Bi with Tae Kwang, instead of Yi An (the mainstream couple) from Who Are You: School 2015. But, after watching Episode 4, I decided to do a post just based on Tae Kwang and his story (as we know it so far). Eun Bi's part will, however, still come in.

First of all, at the beginning of the series, we were introduced to Gong Tae Kwang when he was literally climbing down the side of the hospital when he was refused to be discharged. So, as most would infer from this, Tae Kwang is the sort of person who you wouldn't really want to get involved with. And that did stick with us for the next episodes as well. Because as soon as he got back into school, he'd already gotten into a fight with someone. Unfortunately, even though Tae Kwang does fight a lot, he isn't all that good at it. Hence why he was in the hospital... Or so we thought.

Best K-Drama Moments: May Week #1 - Oh Cho Rim's Past vs. Dropping By

The Girl Who Sees Smells
Oh Cho Rim learns that she is Choi Eun Seol.

The suspense is killing me! When the evil Chef Kwon asks Cho Rim to fetch a cookbook from his study, she stumbles upon the letter written by Dr. Chun Baek Gyung. I won't ask why she nosily read a letter that she didn't know was hers because off I care about is that she finally read it! But unfortunately for her, her serial killing boss caught her in the act.

Is Oh Cho Rim really Choi Moo Gak's Deceased Sister, or is there Two Choi Eun Seol's? - The Lingering Question

As some fans that may have researched The Girl Who Sees Smells like I did, Oh Cho Rim's previous name was Choi Eun Seol, but that however, is also the name of Choi Moo Gak's deceased younger sister. So, I thought I might help those who are confused as to who Oh Cho Rim really is. But first, I'll give some background information.

New Drama: Heard It Through the Grapevine

A new drama came out last week that I've been keeping my eye out on. 4 episodes have come out and been subbed, but I don't plan on starting it till I have finished Secret Garden - only 4 episodes left to go! From trailers and previews to my Tumblr followers to Viki, Heard It Through the Grapevine has certainly caught my eye.
